Hello, I am Tyler Herman, a freelance web designer in Fortuna, California, a small town hidden somewhere behind the "Redwood Curtain" in Humboldt County.
My background is in graphic design, web design and front end development primarily, although I dabble in a bit of everything. My favorite thing to do is the redesign of an existing website but I am up for just about anything.

The Design Process
A little info about working with me and the design process.
1Typically I like to meet in person or talk over the phone about a project before getting started. It is the easiest way to find out what is needed of the site, and what design style would be most fitting.
2Next I look around the internet for similar sites, competitor's sites, or other sites for inspiration and to help get an idea of what is out there.
3Once I have a good understanding of the type of site it needs to be I open my sketchbook and start laying out different mockups. This helps to quickly find the best layout and where each element will best fit on the page.
4After that it is off to Photoshop to start creating the website mockups. Depending on the site there could be 1-3 mockups and several rounds of revisions depending on our agreement.
5After client approval the Photoshop mockups are used to create the webpages. Once the pages are created the copy is added and browser testing is done.
About Me
Some things about me the designer.
I have been doing design work for several years now for print, packaging and web. Web design has really become my passion and takes up a good amount of my freetime. It is an everchanging field and I am constantly learning new things. Currently, I am pooring over xsl(t) and working with Symphony CMS which seems to be the best CMS I've come accross so far.
